older folk

What a challenge the Bible gives those who are ‘more mature in years’!

Psalm 71:18 says “Even when I am old and grey, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come”.

Even though society seems to devalue old age, how important it is to know that God says we have a role to play in speaking with and to the next generation and being an encouragement to them. So there are a range of activities for those who would put themselves under this title of ‘Older Folk’

Those who are retired can sample an excellent two course lunch with coffee every fortnight on a Tuesday and listen to a short after lunch talk. If anyone is a budding artist they can join the Art Group every first and third Thursday where tuition is available from a local artist. And every Wednesday afternoon men and women of the ‘Fellowship Hour’ thoroughly enjoy a time of singing, praying, sharing and discovering the Bible together followed by tea and biscuits.

And knowing the additional needs of this older generation, a team led by one of the Pastors look at ways in which we can demonstrate pastoral and practical care for those who are in need, working alongside Growth Groups and others in the church community.
