Whenever someone came face to face with Jesus, they were forced to make a choice about him. Was he the real deal or an imposter? Did his deeds match his words? Was he what he claimed to be?

In this next section of Luke’s Gospel, the religious authorities start to confront Jesus more. They believe he is a threat and so they seek to do all they can to oppose and expose him. However, Jesus turned the tables on them and revealed their sham religion and shallow spirituality.

In doing so Jesus faced his followers up to the reality of what it means to follow him. As we read through Luke chapters 11-12 we will be faced with the same choice: will we live for him whatever the cost? It’s decision time!
