2011 marks the 400th anniversary of the publication of the King James Bible, which was one of the most significant consequences of the Reformation in England.
But how confident are we as Christians in handling the Bible and do we have the tools to understand it correctly and explain it to others? That is the purpose of this Spring mini-series on Sunday mornings at Woodgreen.
God’s Word contains lots of different types of literature: prophecy, wisdom, poetry, narrative to name just a few. Bible Refresh will equip us with some simple power-tools to help us understand how to approach these different genres and read the Bible for all it’s worth. The series will be followed up in Growth Groups, with studies to help us use the tools we’ve seen on display on the Sundays.
The aim is simple: to refresh and equip us to read, understand, apply and enjoy God’s Word. Handling the Bible well is not just a job for preachers, it’s something we all need to be able to do if we are to grow as Christians.
