What Would Jesus Do ?

It’s a question that’s become popular among Christians in recent years as the pace of change in popular culture has increased and as we face daily challenges about how to live for Jesus in post-Christian Britain.

Come along on Sunday nights as we discover what the Bible has to say about four contemporary topics and learn how to live in a way that reflects Jesus to our generation.

But one thing’s certain: the winners won’t be wimps. Half-hearted allegiance is no allegiance. To think that any time will do to get serious about the cause is to fail the cause completely. The ultimate prize is there for the taking, but not for the apathetic.

What would you expect from a book written by the brother of Jesus?

.

The book of James reads more like a manual for life than a theological textbook. Described as the New Testament equivalent of the book of Proverbs, James is refreshingly practical. It contains more commands than any other book in the New Testament and yet can be read through in less than 8 minutes. It has been compared to ‘a handful of pearls, dropped one by one into the hearers mind.’

However James refuses to allow us to think that faith is all in the mind. He insists that true faith always shows itself in practice. Like dye poured into a wash, the message of James is that saving faith should show itself by colouring every area of our lives. James challenges us to reject half-heartedness and be committed followers of Christ in deed as well as word. He paints for us a portrait of a credible Christian, of Faith that Works.
